Fridays With Tyler

One of my favorite things about the jolly age of three is seeing things through the eyes of a child...or better yet hearing things. Tyler has been on a roll this past week with some of his comments. Yesterday, he told me  if I behaved he would take me to Taco Bell and get me cheesy roll-ups. He loves Taco Bell. :)

My Mom watched the boys this past Thursday, and he informed her that when she grows up like him, HE was going to babysit her.

My favorite comment of the week was again directed at my Mom. He walked over to her and told her, "God made you special, Mama...and He is going to give you a baby!" haha. Mom quickly informed him she didn't need to have babies since she had all of her grandbabies.

Tyler is very excited about meeting his baby brother. Earlier this week, he wished his baby brother was here so he could take him to church and say, "Hi" to him. :) He asks me almost daily if the baby is here yet, and then tells me all the things he will teach his baby brother. So sweet.

I thought I would leave you with a video clip of Tyler singing a "special" song Daddy taught him. It goes like this "Under my bed is a petrified ( but Tyler says, sackopied) pizza, under my bed its begging for air". That's about the extent of the song, and you just sing it over and over again. :)

Welcome to a normal day at our house! :) The boys love hats and sunglasses, and Tyler particularly loves his winter woolie jammies. So, we have spring jammies on the left, and middle of winter jammies on the right. It makes me hot just to look at Tyler. ha. Since Tyler is so grown up now he gets to pick out his own jammies at night. I have been telling him he can get any jammies out BUT his Christmas jammies. :)

I thought I would share some of my Yard Sale finds from this Saturday. In my estimation, it was YARD SALE DAY OF THE YEAR . I've been in a yard saling slump recently not finding many deals, but still going because I can't miss my Saturday morning sweet tea from Mickey D's.

Without further ado, I'll show you all my loot. I'm the type of person who lays everything out so I can show Hubby every precious item I've found. Hubby endures my enthusiasm, but this week even he got a bit excited.

Hubby's Loot: A black pair of Johnston & Murphy shoes $5.00  (Retails for $150-$200), A brown pair of Cole Haan Nike Air shoes $5.00 (Retail for $148),  2 books by Dr. Tony Evans 50 cents a piece.

I was super excited to find a pair of ice skates, and for only a dollar...uhm, yes, please. :) For those of you who know me, and my very uncoordinated ways, no worries, these ice skates are for decorating purposes only.

My find of the day was this Britax car seat for $40. Keep in mind Britax car seats retail for $250-$300. I've been on the look out for a new car seat for Zach since baby Houdini has figured out how to escape the top part of his old car seat. :)

I also found a small kids table for the boys and any "little" company we may have. I paid $6 for this table.

I also stocked up on clothes for the boys. I've been cleaning out closets and going through baby totes trying to figure out what needs to be retired and what has life left to go another round with baby #3. I was excited to find three blankets and a few other fun baby items for the little guy.

Here's Zachy's little lot of clothes for the day. I found almost all of the clothes, blankets,etc for all the boys at the same yard sale. The lady had boy items from newborn to 4T, and so it was right up my ally. She was very persnickety and her items were in excellent condition, unlike so many yard sales that the items are stained. The best part was she dressed her little guy cute and most of the clothes came from either Janie and Jack, Gymboree, Gap or Old Navy.

Here's Tyler's stack of clothes. See I told you I had to lay everything out to show my goodies not only to my husband, but I had my parents come over to see everything. :) For the pricing of all the clothes, shoes, blankets, etc I spent approximately $35. Which is amazing considering the one Vineyard Vines shirt alone would have been priced at $35 new.

So, if you see my little offsprings walking around with name brand clothes on, you can be assured that I paid no more than a dollar for them( the clothes, not the offsprings) at a yard sale. haha.

Little Man Zach

I thought I would share a few recent pictures of Zachary. I found a picture of him from Christmas rocking away on his rocking horse, and I love it! Unfortunately, the climber now likes to move the rocking horse closer to the back of the couch so he can stand up on the back of his horse and peer over at us. Joy.  Being the mother of two, soon to be three boys, I have learned to remain calm unless I see blood and lots of it! Boys will be boys...so they say.

Yesterday, Zach had his 18 month check-up. He measures right on schedule with his height, weight, etc, which is wonderful news. The only concern the Doctor had was his lack of "speech". I do believe he has the second child syndrome, and although his "speech" is almost nonexistent he always gets his point across. He is the King of Grunts and Eh's and chooses to jab his chubby fingers to whatever he wants. I am not the least bit worried. Each child is unique and I'm sure he will learn to talk when he is good and ready. Although, today he did say Da Da go. Woohoo. Just for memory sake, the Doctor was amazed that one of the words he says is cracker. Considering cracker is two syllables and tougher to say than a lot of other words. What can I say, he is a child after my own heart...his first words deal with food. Did I mention he also says cookie? 

Typically, every day after Zach's bath I put him in his crib for a bit to look at books. That way Mommy can get a few things done without worrying about little hands undoing everything. Today I peeked in his room to check on him, and here is what I found. I could eat him up! :)

 I checked on him a little bit later, and he was fast asleep. This never happens while he is looking at books,  but I'm thinking those 18 month shots played a part in this.

I do wish I could slow the hands of time down. My little guys are growing up way too fast!

A Snippet from Family Devotions

I just had to laugh tonight when during family devotions Jonathan asked Tyler, "What Did God Do in the Beginning?". Tyler's response, "Well, He just stood around and looked at footprints." That's a whole new take to God creating the heavens and the earth. :)

Another Tylerism for the day. Tyler told my Mom and I quote, "When Daddy gets big like ME, he is going to have a bad day". ha. Someday I might have Zachism's to share, but at this point he is pretty happy just to point at what he wants and grunt. Although he has learned how to say cracker and cookie quite well...hmm.

Busch Wildlife Center

Back in December, when Dad Slagenweit was here for a visit, we went to the Busch Wildlife Center. All of the animals are Florida wildlife that have been rescued. The best part of this "mini zoo" is that it is F-R-E-E. :) This was our third time to go, and Tyler has loved it every time.

 The guys were intently checking out the snakes. No thanks. I moved on very swiftly for fear those snakes would be reappearing in my dreams or should I say nightmares.

 My very favorite animal of the day was this albino raccoon. It looked like a big ball of fluff with a tiny face thrown in there some where.

It was a very fun day! We were so glad that Dad could be here to make some special memories with us!

In completely unrelated news, we are 95% sure of what we are naming the soon to be little guy. We are still struggling with the middle name. With both of our boys we have passed on our father's names for their middle names. Tyler Mark (after Jonathan's Dad) and Zachary Thomas (after my Dad). :) We are trying to decide if the middle name will be Bailey ( my Maiden name) or Jack or Jackson after my Grandpa. Decisions, Decisions. :)

I'm Back....I KNOW IT'S BEEN FOURSCORE AND TEN YEARS!!

I have a lot to catch up on....but in the meantime I thought I'd share this little video of Tyler praying for one of our meals. I don't want to forget the way he squeezes his eyes shut or how he says Ward for Lord. I love my little fellows to pieces, and don't want to forget these special times with them! Ignore the fact that he is not wearing a shirt. We had lasagna that night, and I believe in being pro-active with my damage control. Its much easier to wipe him down then to try to get stains out of his shirt.

One last update, Team Blue has gained another member, or I should say will be gaining another member in June.  :) My husband is a huge Penn State fan, and so their motto "GO BLUE" is a reality in our lives. We love our boys! Who knows, maybe someday team pink will have a chance...with our grandchildren. haha

We will be enjoying our Christmas with our little family for round two this week. All the boys Christmas presents were wrapped and placed under the tree Saturday afternoon... by Sunday evening that had all changed. We were keeping a very close eye on our youngest for fear  he would get into the presents. Our eagle eyes should have been trained on our oldest who decided to unwrap the gifts while Mommy and Daddy got ready for church Sunday night.  Daddy and Mommy had to laugh at first because we both have Christmas present opening or shaking stories in our past. Round two wrapping will not begin until approximately 10 minutes before presents will be opened this Friday night. :) ha.
