IT'S FAMILY "MOTION" TIME

I thought I would share a video clip from our family devotion time, or as Tyler says, "Its time for family motions". Just for the record, family devotions aren't typically quite so crazy. I had to re-record this morning on my cell phone since what I recorded last night with our camcorder would never upload. Mr. Wiggle Worm, AKA Tyler, was done with quoting, recording and sitting still. :)

Tyler thought he was big stuff yesterday when he got to go outside and help Daddy pressure wash the driveway. Childhood innocence... before he realizes pressure washing, mowing and all that good stuff falls under the category titled work. :)
Here is a picture of the other little guy. He was just itching to get out there and play in the water.

I have to share my chuckle of the day. Tyler was supposed to be napping this afternoon, and when I went to check on him he had removed a small decorative wagon from the nightstand. I asked him to put it back, and get back in bed. He looked at me and said, " I can't put it back." When I asked him why, he said, "Because my two children are sitting right there". I asked him what his children were doing and one was helping him milk the cow and the other was mowing the lawn. I just went and checked on him a bit ago, and thankfully he and his "two children" are fast asleep. I love that he has a big imagination.

Days Spent In The Great Outdoors...

My guys love playing outside. Zach is devastated when its time to come inside, and wails at the top of his wee lungs. Its funny because I had forgotten that Tyler had the same reaction every time we brought him inside when he was Zach's age.
Zach has now graduated to the big boy swing. I'm not sure how safe this is, but he is a dare devil and was ready to give it a try. Tyler loves every aspect of playing outside...especially the sand box the day we accidentally left the lid off and it rained. Yep. Good times. Tyler told me a couple weeks ago that Daddy mowed the back yard just for him to get rid of all the sticky burs. :)

Just a boy and his tractor....

Time for baths. Notice their rosy cheeks, especially Zachy's, that is just from running around and being hot it has nothing to do with a sunburn. Also did you notice Zach's hat, that boy loves him some hats. This past week I had to pry it from his head at bedtime on two separate nights much to his chagrin and screeching.

Wearing our Sunday Best!

I wanted to get a few pictures of Tyler before Sunday School this morning since he was looking so grown up in his little suit. This is how he decided to pose for his first picture.

Then some random child decides to get in on the picture fun.

I got so tickled when freshly bathed Zachy, sporting his diaper, one saddle shoe, and his toothbrush stands by Tyler and starts saying "eese" (cheese) for all he is worth.

I never did manage to get Sunday pictures of Zach before we headed out the door. Oh well, there's always next week. Here are a couple pictures of the boys from this past week.
And, here is one last stellar picture of Zachy.

To My Valentine!

On this Valentine's day I feel incredibly blessed to be married to my sweetheart, Jonathan Rae Slagenweit. We met in 1999, and married in March of 2006. ( I'll spare you all the logistics of our dating:)  What I admire the most about Jonathan is his love for God, and I don't say that lightly. Everything in his life centers around his love for Christ, and his life is a living day by day example to me of what it means to be a true follower of God.

Not only is he a wonderful man of God, but he is an awesome Daddy to our boys. He loves spending time with them, and is very present in their lives. Tyler is constantly saying, "When I get to be a big man like Daddy...". To me that says a lot, you know how the saying goes ...imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.

Jonathan lost one of his biggest cheerleaders this past November, his Momma. Its been a tough few months, and the reality that he will never see her again this side of heaven has made the past few weeks even a greater struggle.  His Mom has had such a lasting impact on him not only through her life, but also in her death. Thank-you Mom for raising up such a wonderful man that I am privileged to call my husband.

I love the fact that I also get to call this fellow my best friend. He is always there for me with a listening ear, or a ready laugh...or a," maybe you need to go out tonight...why don't you call Jenness" if he thinks I need a break from my munchkins. And, he can make me laugh; belly laugh.Today I had a Doctor's appointment approximately 30-45 minutes away from home. No biggie, right? I am a terrible driver, and directionally challenged so its always a biggie for me to attempt this particular appointment since I get all turned around. Anywho, I called him on the way home, and had to get off the phone because I wasn't sure I was going the right way. Before I hung up he pipes up and says, " Well, if your not home by dark, I'll come looking for you". ha. Ever the knight in shining armor.
I'll end by saying this: "I love you little, I love you lots. My love for you will fill ten pots, 15 buckets, 16 cans, two teapots, and four dishpans". Happy Valentines Day, Jay Rae.

Sorry, I didn't mean to prattle on for so long. I happened upon a disk today that had all of our engagement, and some dating pictures on it. It was fun to look back, and I'm amazed at how much we have changed in 7 or 8 years.

If I had any marriage advice, it would be this "Train him up in the way, he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it". I couldn't resist. I found the picture below, and that's the little verse that kept going through my head. hahha. TOTALLY TEASING.

Tylerism For Sunday.

Tyler's small request of the day: "Mommy, can you spit Carter out?".  Sure Tyler, just give me a minute... a little spit here and a little spit there and then I only have to deal with the after effects of a paralyzed vocal chord, eruption of all my teeth, broken jaw and a few minor details. Yes, I'll definitely jump right to it ,Tyler.  Can you tell he is a bit eager to meet his baby brother? :)

I'll leave you with a picture of our favorite bean burrito (Tyler), and little side of sour cream (Zach).

Fridays With Tyler

One of my favorite things about the jolly age of three is seeing things through the eyes of a child...or better yet hearing things. Tyler has been on a roll this past week with some of his comments. Yesterday, he told me  if I behaved he would take me to Taco Bell and get me cheesy roll-ups. He loves Taco Bell. :)

My Mom watched the boys this past Thursday, and he informed her that when she grows up like him, HE was going to babysit her.

My favorite comment of the week was again directed at my Mom. He walked over to her and told her, "God made you special, Mama...and He is going to give you a baby!" haha. Mom quickly informed him she didn't need to have babies since she had all of her grandbabies.

Tyler is very excited about meeting his baby brother. Earlier this week, he wished his baby brother was here so he could take him to church and say, "Hi" to him. :) He asks me almost daily if the baby is here yet, and then tells me all the things he will teach his baby brother. So sweet.

I thought I would leave you with a video clip of Tyler singing a "special" song Daddy taught him. It goes like this "Under my bed is a petrified ( but Tyler says, sackopied) pizza, under my bed its begging for air". That's about the extent of the song, and you just sing it over and over again. :)

Happy Monday!

Welcome to a normal day at our house! :) The boys love hats and sunglasses, and Tyler particularly loves his winter woolie jammies. So, we have spring jammies on the left, and middle of winter jammies on the right. It makes me hot just to look at Tyler. ha. Since Tyler is so grown up now he gets to pick out his own jammies at night. I have been telling him he can get any jammies out BUT his Christmas jammies. :)

I thought I would share some of my Yard Sale finds from this Saturday. In my estimation, it was YARD SALE DAY OF THE YEAR . I've been in a yard saling slump recently not finding many deals, but still going because I can't miss my Saturday morning sweet tea from Mickey D's.

Without further ado, I'll show you all my loot. I'm the type of person who lays everything out so I can show Hubby every precious item I've found. Hubby endures my enthusiasm, but this week even he got a bit excited.

Hubby's Loot: A black pair of Johnston & Murphy shoes $5.00  (Retails for $150-$200), A brown pair of Cole Haan Nike Air shoes $5.00 (Retail for $148),  2 books by Dr. Tony Evans 50 cents a piece.

I was super excited to find a pair of ice skates, and for only a dollar...uhm, yes, please. :) For those of you who know me, and my very uncoordinated ways, no worries, these ice skates are for decorating purposes only.
My find of the day was this Britax car seat for $40. Keep in mind Britax car seats retail for $250-$300. I've been on the look out for a new car seat for Zach since baby Houdini has figured out how to escape the top part of his old car seat. :)
I also found a small kids table for the boys and any "little" company we may have. I paid $6 for this table.

I also stocked up on clothes for the boys. I've been cleaning out closets and going through baby totes trying to figure out what needs to be retired and what has life left to go another round with baby #3. I was excited to find three blankets and a few other fun baby items for the little guy.

Here's Zachy's little lot of clothes for the day. I found almost all of the clothes, blankets, etc for all the boys at the same yard sale. The lady had boy items from newborn to 4T, and so it was right up my ally. She was very persnickety and her items were in excellent condition, unlike so many yard sales that the items are stained. The best part was she dressed her little guy cute and most of the clothes came from either Janie and Jack, Gymboree, Gap or Old Navy.
Here's Tyler's stack of clothes. See I told you I had to lay everything out to show my goodies not only to my husband, but I had my parents come over to see everything. :) For the pricing of all the clothes, shoes, blankets, etc I spent approximately $35. Which is amazing considering the one Vineyard Vines shirt alone would have been priced at $35 new.
So, if you see my little offsprings walking around with name brand clothes on, you can be assured that I paid no more than a dollar for them( the clothes, not the offsprings) at a yard sale. haha.
